15 federal states have extended the deadline for implementing the TSE to March 31, 2021. Retailers still have to take action now.
It was planned that all electronic cash register systems in Germany must be equipped with a certified technical security device (TSE) by September 30, 2020. While there is now certified hardware, the cloud solution is still waiting for certification. In addition, the Corona crisis and the reduction in VAT have created additional hurdles for retailers.
Almost all federal states, with the exception of Bremen, have now extended the deadline to March 31, 2021. However, there are conditions. Dealers must prove that they have ordered a TSE by September 30, 2020, in the federal states of Berlin, Brandenburg, Lower Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saxony even by August 31, 2020, or have already given a binding order for the installation. A missing TSE will also not be objected to if the use of a cloud-based TSE is planned but this is demonstrably not yet available.
